‘Extra’ good start to 2019 for Richmond woman

Checking out Madrid and the Champions League Soccer Finals may be in the cards for Zahra Madahany and her family this summer.
It’s one of the things on the Richmond family’s proverbial bucket list after she won $500,000 on the Lotto Max Extra draw held on Dec. 21, 2018 when she wisely said “yes” to the Extra.
“I had to make sure I was seeing it correctly,” said Madahany. “I scanned it again and again and counted the zeros.”
Madahany usually buys tickets when there’s a large jackpot to be won, but hadn’t played the lottery for quite a while before purchasing the winning ticket at the Dodi Market on Vancouver’s Davie Street.
“I am grateful for this win,” she said. “Now, I am a believer and I plan to keep on playing.”
While a trip to Spain or perhaps Thailand is still possible, Madahany wants to connect with her roots.
“I want to go to India. (And) maybe take a bit off the mortgage as well,” she said.
